Make better use of resources
We continually evaluate manufacturing processes with the goal of using energy, raw materials, and other resources efficiently while reducing or eliminating avoidable waste and byproducts where practical.
SUSTAINABILITY
Lorad develops and manufactures specialty inorganic materials used in technologies that are changing how energy is stored, how electronic systems perform, and how the world is measured and observed. We believe the way those materials are made should reflect the same long term perspective.
OUR APPROACH
For Lorad, sustainability is not a separate program layered onto the business. It is part of how we think about process efficiency, resource use, waste, supplier relationships, product development, and the technologies our materials help enable.
We continually evaluate manufacturing processes with the goal of using energy, raw materials, and other resources efficiently while reducing or eliminating avoidable waste and byproducts where practical.
Our facilities are expected to meet applicable environmental requirements, protect employees and the surrounding community, and support a culture in which environmental considerations are part of everyday operating decisions.
Many Lorad materials are inputs to technologies pursuing greater efficiency, improved energy storage, better sensing, and more capable electronic and optical systems. Our role is to provide the materials those technologies require.
OUR PRODUCTS. REAL WORLD APPLICATIONS.
Lorad materials are used by universities, government laboratories, manufacturers, and technology developers working to improve existing products and create new ones.
Lorad manufactures battery materials used in lithium ion, solid state, thermal, and other electrochemical systems. These materials support development efforts aimed at higher energy density, improved durability, reliable discharge behavior, and new battery architectures for electric vehicles, medical devices, defense systems, and other demanding applications.
Lorad phosphor and specialty inorganic materials are used in security, imaging screen, and radiation detection applications. Materials engineered for these systems can help enable brighter output, improved image clarity, sensitive detection, and more efficient electronic and optical devices.
Our optical coating and advanced inorganic materials are used in solar, sensor, camera, and other photonic systems. In these applications, material selection can influence transmission, sensitivity, durability, conversion efficiency, and the overall performance of next generation optical technologies.
ACROSS THE VALUE CHAIN
We seek relationships with suppliers that support responsible sourcing, environmental stewardship, and dependable access to the precursor materials required for specialty chemical manufacturing.
We focus on process efficiency, conservation of resources, waste reduction, compliance, and continual improvement in the way our products are developed and manufactured.
We work with customers and research organizations developing new technologies, helping translate materials requirements into practical products, processes, and scalable supply.
HOW WE OPERATE
The most direct sustainability decisions Lorad makes are the ones inside our own operations. Management policies are intended to integrate environmental stewardship into facility operations, manufacturing decisions, and supplier relationships.
Environmental stewardship is only part of responsible sourcing. Lorad also maintains a Conflict Mineral Sourcing Policy intended to promote accountability in the sourcing of precursor materials and respect for human rights throughout the supply chain.
