PERIODIC TABLE
Oganesson
About Oganesson
Oganesson is a synthetic, radioactive element with atomic number 118, completing the seventh period of the periodic table. Named after nuclear physicist Yuri Oganessian, it occupies group 18, alongside the noble gases. Theoretical research predicts substantial differences from lighter members of that group, including the possibility of a solid state under ordinary conditions, but these bulk properties have not been experimentally established. Oganesson is a subject of fundamental nuclear and atomic research and has no established commercial applications.
