Lanthanum

Atomic No. 57 La Lanthanum

About Lanthanum

Lanthanum is a rare earth metal with atomic number 57 and is generally considered the first element in the lanthanide series. It is highly reactive and is therefore found in nature only in combined forms, commonly alongside other rare earth elements. Lanthanum compounds are used in optical glass, catalysts, ceramics, phosphors, battery materials, and specialty inorganic systems, including oxides, sulfides, fluorides, and other advanced compositions where controlled purity and composition are important.
